Preschool

Dylan and Malia are going to start preschool on Monday. I have mixed emotions. I think he will LOVE it after he gets used to it. He didn't want to leave when we visited last week. It's only two days a week and we're starting out with two half days a week. This way, Corrie and I will each have all 4 kids one day, just the babies one day, then our own on Fridays. It will help with our sanity. I'll be able to take the two jogging or to a park or anywhere, really. It's not that hard with just two kids.

I'm going to be thinking about Dylan and Malia every second though. I'll be ready to go pick him up early I'm sure. We went and met his teacher and a couple of kids that will be in their class. We saw the schedule too. He gets to go to the playground twice, and they have lots of scheduled potty breaks. The pottys are so cute and short. Dylan liked them.

I always thought I would teach my own kids preschool things like how to read. I wondered if I would home school like my mom did to me and my sister and brothers. Ok, so I don't have a clue when they're supposed to learn how to read, and I'm a ball full of guilt that Dylan doesn't say all of his alphabet yet. He likes routine and "clean up clean up" time. He will like the structure of school. He's not like me in that he actually likes wearing shoes. That's good b/c he has to wear shoes at school. That's one thing I hated when I went to school after always being homeschooled. I bet you never thought about wearing shoes at school, huh.

Dylan is growing up! Preschool! Wow! I think that it is good to at least let him try it out--you still have the option of homeschool if you want!

He's going to LOVE preschool! And you will too! They are soooooo nice there and it's so sweet for them to have little friends and go to birthday parties... and the Christmas show is priceless. It's going to be great. ...and he'll still need you to teach him lots of things :) AND from an "early childhood specialist" he is NOT supposed to know the alphabet yet!! Some kids do and that's fine, but it's not age appropriate to TEACH it yet silly :)
