So, here's my review on Meet the Mormons.
It's a documentary. My 6 year old whispered "when is the movie going to start?" about 15 minutes into it. It did hold all of my kids' attention though. Well the baby slept. It's not a thriller, and is not controversial. It just shows that our faith guides us in our normal decisions. So it's true. My faith for sure guides my decisions as a mom, as a friend, in my career(s), etc.
Our church is trying to say we're normal people I think. The intro shows how we're made fun of in various shows/movies so that's funny, and it sort of mentions that this movie will dispel some misconceptions. But it doesn't go into that at all, in my opinion. It just follows inspirational good people. I held back tears when it was showing the story about the mom who was in the process of shipping her son off on a mission. That story hit home since I have a brother in the Philippines serving happily too.
Here's a review site showing that it did well at the box office even though it was only showing in a couple of select theaters. (And that the numbers went down on Sunday, showing that mostly members went to see it.) But that's okay b/c most people will watch it on NetFlix later, both members of the church and not. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/meet-mormons-proves-box-office-740471 I read some reviews and critics were annoyed that the movie seemed to imply that moviegoers were ignorant to the fact that we come in all shapes and sizes and colors. It said it's not worth it to pay for a movie ticket price for an infomercial. I can see that. But I think the title is not misleading. It is really letting the audience meet some Mormons. That's it! It's sweet and a really good sampling.
But, if it leaves something to be desired, here's a newly released (I think) part of our church website which explains gospel topics. It's good reading for myself too. You know, how repetition is a good teacher or whatever? https://www.lds.org/topics Simple. So, you can look up our beliefs on a wide variety of topics, even the controversial ones like plural marriages. (Completely NOT a part of our church any more BTW.) So there you have it. If you have the money or the time to be uplifted, then go see it. If you are curious about anything in the church, I'll go again with you, or you can ask me, or you can go to that lds.org/topics website, or you can download the scriptures for free as an app on your phone (or read for free online of course) or you can come to church with me. Or to our fall festival the Friday before Halloween with your kids :)

Overstimulation of Kids
Sounds like a good title. So, that's the new poll. Do I overstimulate my kids? You only know what little I post about, but vote anyway. Comment here if you want to add anything.
I must admit, we have seen Kung Fu Panda twice. Dylan, Isaac, and I went with the Szaszs then we took Steven and his mom to see it. It's not like the best movie or anything, but it holds Dylan's attention.
I have to admit, he came home doing some funy Kung Fu moves on Steven that evening. Maybe he needs a big brother to pick on like my little brother does. He tackles my mom after family prayers at night instead of giving her a hug good night.

Super Woman

Sometimes I think I'm pretty good b/c I watch 2 toddlers and 2 infants for a couple hours twice/week. But then I made Jolyn watch 3 toddlers and 2 infants. And not only that, she watched them when it was nap time for all. Isaac slept part of the time, but the others were wild. They even look wild w/ their masks. She tamed them with popcorn and a movie it looks like, but they didn't nap. Sorry Jolyn!
Her camera broke, so my kind deed for the day was to leave my camera for her. I think it's soooooo sad to not have a camera. She took these pictures, but they're on my camera so I get to post them, ha ha!

My baby's 2
Steven worked on Dylan's birthday but we celebrated that evening. Steven asked Dylan what he wanted for dinner and Dylan said pizza. (I wonder if there was any suggesting going on there???) Steven took Dylan to the the video store and let him pick out 2 movies. He picked out a Scooby Doo movie b/c of the "RAAAAA" on the cover. (Dylan likes dinosaurs/draggons and roars when he sees them.) We got a margarita pizza from a local place on Central and put the #2 in it from the night at Chuck E. Cheese. Dylan seemed to like our humble celebration. He knows how to say "dooo" (two) for how old he is. He holds one finger up from each hand for a total of 2 fingers. We then let him eat in front of the movie in his high chair.

Dylan and names
Dylan is able to associate things now. Sometimes he'll talk to himself about what he did earlier. Other times I'll see him think of something and he'll run and tell me about it. He may tell me about a place we went that day or of something fun he did. Sometimes he'll start saying names of people he misses. He'll say Grandma and Granddad and Grandpa and maybe he'll throw in an uncle or two. I'll tell him where they are. When he asks about Daddy, he's usually at work. Today I was changing his diaper before going to work and when I told him that's where I was going, he said "Daddy?" Like he associates Daddy with work, I'm supposed to stay home.
Today he asked for Matt. It sounds more like "Mack." I remembered I hadn't posted this video of when Matt was in town. He also asked for Malia and "baby." He misses baby Noah, Malia's little brother. I told him we could go see him tomorrow.

Safe in Daddy's arms
We took Dylan to see a dome IMAX movie on Saturday. The screen was literally a huge dome that surrounded us. We saw a dinosaur documentary. Dylan started off on Steven's lap but when the movie started scurried to mine. Once the huge monsterous dinos came out, he really wanted his strong daddy. It was so cute. He sat there looking around him at the movie as I stared at him. He's so cute! I loved watching his reactions.

This is just a funny picture that I cropped so you can see his nose. Such a boy. Oh, and Julie, Dylan needs a haircut too. Steven and his friends want me to let it go crazy and want me to stop giving him crew cuts. (It has been a long time since I've given him a hair cut.) See the poll to the right.
