Tball end and party

Dylan got lucky with the Tball team he was on.
Besides not getting to be the Rays and having to be the Yankees, that is.
The team mom was so good!  She did fund raisers so she could treat the kids to a Chuck E. Cheese party!

Then besides their trophies, she and her brother the coach made framed collages for each of the kids! I sent her some of Dylan and she used them and some from other parents. That's going above and beyond! She also gave them water bottles. Even the kids loved the pictures more.

boys boys boys

I'm going through the hundreds of pictures from last month and keep seeing the cutest and funniest little boys in so many fun places and with the silliest faces (and hair).
Here's a quick one for you.  (Dylan's hand is fine in case you're wondering; he saw my old boxing wrap and thinks it makes him stronger.)

Oral Cancer Walk (and 5K run)

I'm the Pinellas County Dental Hygiene Association president, so occasionally you'll see oral health related posts like this one.  My friend Kimmeuy just graduated, but has done most of the prep work as a student - amazing!

We're putting on the
FIRST-EVER-IN-FLORIDA
oral cancer
awareness walk

Did you know that Oral Cancer is often called the silent killer?  By the time it's found, it's often too late.  This is a fund raiser with free oral cancer screenings and we will not only raise money for the Oral Cancer Foundation, but we will raise your awareness.
We're doing a competitive 5K with awards for age groups (we'll take your age when you sign in), and a fun 1 mile walk/run.  We decided that kids should be free.  Leashed pets are also welcome!  There's no excuse not to go:)  You can buy extra Tshirts (since this IS a fund raiser) for $10 for the kids or people who just want to go to the health fair part or for souvenirs.  ALL of the proceeds will go to the Oral Cancer Foundation

So, we're looking for participants, but more importantly, we're also looking for big sponsors!  And for vendors who want to give freebies in the goodie bags or treats etc.  Even a friend who owns some Dunkin' Donuts stores is going to provide coffee and/or bagels and/or donuts for us.  At first I thought that a donut place would be ironic for this, but now I see that anybody could be involved!

We're looking for other health care providers to set up a table to offer other screenings or just pass out their pamphlets.  We're looking for people who want to sponsor with money for their names to be on the shirts, bags, banners, etc.  Do you know of anybody?  Do you want to participate?
You can also join our facebook event for updates.
The registration forms and letter can be found on our www.PCDHA.com website or click below:

feel free to print and distribute to your patients, clients, friends, family members, etc. Put them on your desk or counter or take them to the networking lunches you go to.  Save the picture in this post and link to http://www.pcdha.org/ if you want some new flare for your website/blog!  All this info is under our calendar on that home page.  (And you're invited to my networking meeting I'm going to hold before our next general PCDHA meeting Oct 7th - the info is also on the home page there.)

It's on Ft. Desoto Beach, so you know you want to make a whole beach day out of it - Ft. Desoto always wins the awards for best beaches ever and top beaches in the US etc.

Busch Gardens w/ my boys

I dont think these pictures need captions.  We played in the water, then we climbed the tree for a while.  Sadly, I left my phone with the stroller which was in eye sight from the water and from the tree b/c it wasn't waterproof like my camera.  Jake and Brent worried because I didn't answer my phone.  My stroller was right where it was when they left to ride a roller coaster.  I felt bad when they called their mom worried.  Were we in the tree that long really?  Sorry Jake and Brent!

Dylan is the one who kept asking me to take his picture,
then little "monkey-see-monkey-do" wanted to show off too.
We were all safe and sound eating icecream and popcorn watching Elmo and friends.
Dylan didn't know what he was getting himself into when he agreed to go on this roller coaster w/ Jake and Brent.
His face here isn't exactly happy with Jake.  They looked at the pictures on the screens and Dylan did NOT want to buy it b/c his face was so terrified.  Brent was cheezin' it up though:)
Now this is more like it.
The rides shut down b/c of really dark clouds coming and thunder and lightning sightings.  We were pretty much done anyway.
Ready to see Brent working on his acting skills? he thought it would add to the picture.
I agree:)  but do you see all of that rush hour traffic?  yuck.
Thank you, Bonnie, for our passes!

a special temple trip

My cousin Chrissy died before getting to go through the temple.  We can get additional blessings when we go to and through a temple.  It is special to me, (ask me for more info), but I can share how excited I was to be able to go through on behalf of Chrissy last Saturday so she can have the eternal blessings she deserves.  She's someone who would give something 100% if she wanted to, and I bet she was waiting and was as excited as I was my first time.
And I'm not pregnant.  Why did my dress pooch out like that when I jumped?  Time to step up the marathon training!

Memorial Day 2010 (pool parties!)

I tried figuring out if we were doing anything for Memorial Day, but Steven and I kind of just wanted to work on the house and on his trial prep.  Then our friends told us they were coming in town - hip hip hooray!  We haven't seen them in years, and I hadn't seen her baby (on the far left below- not such a baby any more).
So since 2Dylan wanted to come over so bad, we had a cook out/pool party!  Each of the 3 families have 2 parents and 2 kids each.
Dylan stayed in the pool the whole time.  This picture reminds me that I need to make some more popsicles.
Me and my friends:)
Here's my trophy husband!  He made our front and back yard look beautiful including new mulch, a new gardinia bush, edging, etc.  He bought the food and cooked it too.  I just sat back and hung out with my friends IN the pool while he worked.

Then because one pool party isn't enough, we went right to Andre's house.  No nap for Dylan.  Isaac and Steven took a nap on Andre's couch for a while.  (Don't tell Andre that Isaac was just in undies, good thing he didn't have an accident on Steven and the red couch!!)
I'm pretty sure that Andre wants to win the award for World's Greatest Uncle.  He played with these kids so much between adjusting the music, grilling, preparing, cleaning, etc etc.  They LOVED it!  Jumping high fives,
Double jumping high fives,
wearing the kids out,
kicking airplane rides,
and fast chug-a-chug-a-choo-choo train trips around the pool.
Then we had to prep for trial and get a print order in the mail and get ready for work the next day.
We love friends, family, grilling out, and swiming!

home made popsicles

Green Smoothies

So my dad showed me a green smoothie girl website a while ago thinking that I could relate to the lady I guess.  I am a wannabe.  I wannabe healthy, but I don't put in the time and effort.  I saw a new friend's blog and she's so healthy for her and her daughters.  I wanna be like that.  Then late nights when my TV is boarderline annoying over to my right (like now), infomercials come on.  I wannabe able to throw in a whole apple to a cool expensive blender like they do!  I priced expensive blenders and thought about putting it on my long list of stuff I want when I'm rich.  Then, my younger yet wiser brother, Matt, told me that he has been making the green smoothies for himself so he'll drink something a bit more healthier than the free soda at his office.  He has a regular old blender from Target.  So, here goes!

I started like some video tutorials with water, then lettuce, then strawberries, skipping the flax sead oil- what?!  I even added some sweet potato puree that we had along with some quartered apples and ice.  I gave it to my kids who did NOT like the green coming up through their straw.  So I had them watch me add more strawberries to make it pink.  I had to bribe them with a lollipop to get them to drink some more.  That defeats my health kick.  I offered some to Steven and after his smalles sip EVER, he informed me that he could taste the carrot.  There's NO carrot in it!

So, I decided not to go too crazy and added more fruits than lettuce.  Here's another attempt:
I added Juicy Juice mango juice instead of water.  Orange juice works too.  I'm not too into the apple juice and apples in my smoothies.  Look, I even added some left over steamed broccoli from the night before.  I now use spinach and fill the whole blender up with it, and it doensn't taste as much like grass.  I recomend that.
Note my green bowl for the lid.  This is an old blender, possibly from our wedding registry, possibly from my dad or Steven's mom's house.  I've used it probably once before - maybe?  Who knows where the lid is.  Doesn't it look gross?
Quickly add some color!  I use frozen mixed berries and even frozen cranberries.  My blender chops them up better than ice.  I use the smaller pieces of ice and they work.
Fresh pineapple!  Is your mouth watering yet, or are you still wierded out?
It looks so good to me!
I add natural honey sometimes, and my friend Sarah gave me the idea to add wheat germ.  I've heard it's not best to mix fruits and vegies.  I'm not going to let that get to me though.  My kids are eating their fair share of fruit and vegie servings, and are eating raw foods.  I'm making them every day now!
I've always loved smoothies, and loved when the smoothie chains in South Beach say to me "no sugar, right?" because that's the norm there.
Do you know what's ironic about this apple-a-day and green smoothie thing?  Isaac was sick asleep on the couch in the other room with his fever - right when we were being healthy, we got sick.  Oh well, I'm doing it for the convenience and deliciousness and easy clean up about it.

Dylan swims the length

Dylan LOVES being in our pool.  He wants to go in morning, noon and evening.  So when we're  home, that's exactly what we do:)  He hasn't had swimming lessons, but since both Steven and I were swimming teachers ourselves, we had him in from the beginning.  The thing is, it's soooo dificult to teach my own kids b/c it's dificult to differentiate from fun mommy time to structured lesson time.  I'm focusing more on safety with Isaac than getting him to swim.  I wish I could afford to take time off of work to take Isaac to ISR swiming lessons like the ones I get to take pictures of.  Anyway, we still see what Dylan can do every once in a while and he can do it!

Dylan loves the attention.  Notice his ring that he insists on wearing on his palm side?  And his silly bandz?  He got some in a goodie bag from a birthday party and had them on ever since.  Now I'm hearing in the news what a distraction they can be - now why didn't I think of them?:)

In this video, he is actually laughing and looking at me a little in the end.  He needs to learn how to side breath, and if he weren't my kid and I were getting paid, by now he would know how to blow his air out under the water and would side breath (and his arms would extend more), but I love that he loves the water:)

Isaac's trike ride

Isaac can now ride a tricycle!  He has been doing it a little, but we only have a small cement slab in the back yard, and in Dylan's school, it's crowded with other kids when we stay to play.  We took the kids on a bike ride to the school at the end of our street.  Dylan started out in the front, but his tires were flat, so Isaac and I passed them while Steven got the tire pump to save the day.
Dylan ride in circles while we took for EVER getting to the school.  Isaac can pedal, but he's still slow!
But man did he LOVE it!  We went back the next night too.
