Honda Grand Prix

Right after I got home from my prophy day, my dad was at my house listening to General Conference with Steven on www.byu.tv/. They wanted to go to the Honda Grand Prix races inbetween sessions. Last year Dylan was way too little to go although we can hear the race cars from inside of our house.

Looking for a better place to watch the race
ear plugsWatching the tow truck.
We couldn't stay long b/c we had Dylan's cousin's 1st birthday party to go to. We didn't want to pay for tickets so we parked for free and walked up to the top of a public parking garage to see what we could see. We saw a closer parking garage so we walked in it. It had a perfect view. It was the St. Pete Yacht Club so not many other people had the guts to check out the view from there. We did - and we're glad we did!
Dylan didn't kept pulling out his ear plugs so we resorted to holding his ears. The event was a 1st for all of us. We even saw a wreck. One car bumped a green one a little and the green driver popped his steering wheel off, and left. A guy waved a yellow flag and the cars went more slowly while a tow truck picked up the green car and drove off with it. We watched another fast lap then had to go. You might notice that Dylan has 2 outfits on. I didn't plan on going to the race so I didn't have a specific outfit on him but when I saw the "vroom vroom vroom" outfit I had to take it. I changed him into it while we were waiting for the race to start. He also had a toy car to play with:)

Prophy Day

I volunteered to go into work on Sat morning to clean my co-workers' teeth. We all need cleanings so we can get Zoom! bleaching! I also invited my little brother in b/c he's in braces and needs extra help. The catch was that I needed to bring Dylan w/ me and they would switch off babysitting for me.
The light is blinding poor Uncle Jonathan's eyes here. I sat him up for the picture a bit too much. (Sorry, JT) Dylan's 1st visit to my dental chair. He likes to brush his teeth (ch ch CH CH ch CH CH ch ch)
Dr. Brayer came in and brought her son too. She treated her friends from out of town and I cleaned their teeth.

Sun Hats

They aren't smiling, so it's like an old photograph

These babies are sooooo cute. I'm so lucky to be able to just work part time so that I can play with them.
They were so happy that I asked Dylan to give Malia a kiss. They both started acting shy. Dylan didn't give her a kiss but Malia blew me kisses.
They both really know what we're saying to them. They pick up key words that are mixed in a sentence. Especially words like "eat, food, pacifier, blanket, and mom."

Basketball

Steven, Uncle Andre, and Darren have been playing basketball at Stetson again. Dylan felt left out. He loves to play basketball.

He started crying b/c Andre couldn't lift him all the way to the basket and I couldn't make it in when I tried one-handed while holding him. He's wearing his converse shoes that Uncle Andre got him. They're still a little big.
The big boys wanted to really play so we went for a jog around Stetson then to a small little park. It was the 1st time that Dylan went down a slide ALL BY HIMSELF and liked it. Corrie and I have pushed him down slides before and he didn't seem too into it. Here - he did it by himself and laughed all the way down.

Visiting Teaching in the park

It's felt like spring break b/c Steven and I went out on Saturday night and we don't have pressing deadlines. Steven has been reading a big book as part of his vacation. He just finnished it today. I'm done being graded for school so now even though I'm still the project manager for this County-wide Head Start Caries Intervention Program (HSCIP), I can breath. I have even been cooking dinner.
I knew that I didn't have time to play around w/ a weblog or much with photos before so I didn't want to spend $ on photoshop for Christmas, but I still want it for graduation. Steven's thinking that we can make that happen. I want the best one so that I won't regret not getting it from the beginning. Lacey will help me figure it out. Kat's room-mate had a text book on photoshop so maybe I'll go to a bookstore and get a book. THAT will be my new school work:)
I worked in the morning for just 2hours for one patient b/c I'm so booked and she really needed the cleaning. Dylan, Malia, and I went "visiting teaching" with Danielle and her baby, Liam for our first time (oops). We visit taught our friend Shannon and her three kids. It was really more of a play date than teaching. We got Panera and went to the park. I love having time to hang out with friends again. It was beautiful in the shade of the big Oak trees. Avery said she was going to "the desert" though when she would go play on the playground. Thank goodness for Dylan's new hat!
Notice how well behaved the other kids are.
Dylan is not happy I took him from the playground and Malia is all over the place.

Notice that Malia is trying to blow the bubbles but Dylan eats the wand. I guess that's the 3 months of maturity that she has on him. They do play so well together. They're best friends.

Family Fun Morning

We had a busy week and were doing things day to day. This morning Steven and I woke up, looked at each other, and asked what we were going to do that day. We actually didn't have anything planned until this evening! That doesn't happen much so we decided to go downtown.
We started at the Saturday morning market where Dylan got his favorite food: an organic smoothie. It was supposed to be for me but I forgot to ask the guy to leave out the bananna - lucky Dylan!
We then went to check out the booths at the MS walk. There are always walks and runs and tons of events going on downtown. The walk was over so we went to the pier. We crammed in the photo booth and got the picture scroogie. The picture really isn't worth scanning in, so here's our self portrait. It's not much better.
The pier has a small little aquarium. We've taken Dylan there before. Since his pet fishie died, we figure we can just take him here. I was making fish faces and he gave me kisses. His kisses are so sweet. He leans in w/ a huge wide mouth and once he touches - he backs up and smiles.

Steven's dad used to take them to the pier when Steven was a kid. They used to feed the pelicans. The place was still there when Steven and I were dating. The pelicans are smelly, big, and flap their huge wings all over. Steven fed them and threw the fish right at my feet so the pelicans seemed to attack me. I was upset at the dirty trick but today wanted to do it again b/c I wanted to start a fun memory for Dylan and his daddy. I stayed further back this time and made Steven promise not to throw the fish at us, but Dylan loved it. He was laughing. He was brave and went over to get a closer look at the big ugly birds.

We were going to go to a museum but the boys needed naps. We all took a long nap then played inside. That's our Saturday morning! After our naps we got Dylan ready and took him to his Grandma Beckman's house for the night and we had a date night to our friend's birthday party.

1st Day of Spring

Dylan and I have missed the Szasz family because they went on a vacation right after we did. They were so thoughtful and brought back gifts! They got him the cutest ESPN baseball hat, bat, and ball. We love them! The bat and ball are just his size and are the kind that he can't chew through. Any ball is the perfect gift.
It's cool that I had dressed him in a baseball shirt and brought my cammera. The shirt matched the hat perfectly! He kept the hat on all day and it came in handy when the sun was so bright in the back seat. Expect to see lots more of the hat this spring and summer!

Happy Green Day

On St. Patrick's Day, we were busy all day but ended up going to dinner w/ Andre, Darren, Corrie, and Malia. The todlers ate graham crackers while we waited for a table.

It was the first time I let Dylan color, so I of course took a picture of him with his green crayon. Yes, he tasted the crayon then bit off the tip and gave it to me. Coloring time did not last long.

New Tricks

We've been doing some baby sign language w/ Dylan for a long time. We are so happy to see that he is now signing back. Here's a video of him signing for "more." He made a variation of the sign but another baby in the "Sign-to-me" video does it this way too. I think it makes more sense. Dylan uses his right finger to point to the palm of his left hand. Sometimes I put food in my palm for him or into his palm.

Dylan can sign for water too. His water sign is just one finger waving instead of three. He knows where his nose is and likes to pick it when pointing. He knows where his belly button is. He also enjoys giving kisses to stuffed animals. I love that he signs for milk and points at what he wants. He also shakes or nodds his head.

Got Milk?

Dylan is now signing back! He recognized the sign for milk almost right away and is just now doing it for himself on his own. It is so cute.

Snow fun

Dylan LOVES watching snowball fights. He was laughing and laughing (as long as I was holding him). We were above Sundance w/ Uncles Andre, Matt, and Martin. Kat had to work.

Vacations

We went on a week vacation to Utah. Steven took his Bar exam right before we left. He's now job searching until he finds out the results in about a month (or more). He may not have a week to take a vacation for a long time. Steven had never been skiing or seen it snow, so we finally took a wintery vacation. Even though we live in Florida, we just go on short tropical vacations like to Miami, the Keys, the Bahamas, Costa Rica, or somewhere else in Florida.
I have a sister and two brothers in Provo, Utah and our friends went out the same week. It was a fun vacation filled with snowboarding, sledding, snowmen, snowmobiling, hot chocolate, snowball fights, and warm clothes. We didn't find the hot sprinngs, but not for lack of effort. My dad was helpind us from Florida w/ his GPS. It just got too late. I still wish we would have gone ice skating outside. The lakes weren't safe but we did see some people walking on them and ice fishing.

It was Dylan's 3rd airplane trip. I also took him on one when he was still in my tummy. We went to my cousin Julie's wedding at the Salt Lake Temple. He was easier to handle then.

I took him to visit baby Abbey when he was 7 months old then to Texas to visit my BYU room mates when he was 10 months old. He took his 1st step there.

When Dylan was just 3 months old, we took him to Key West.

A blog for the Fegers

I've tried different ways to post pictures to our friends and family. I keep changing the way I do it. I'm hoping this blog will be the answer.

Snowboarding

This is a video clip of my brother Martin. We both went down this area but to the side first. Martin went down this part the next run and didn't realize it was a jump. He thought he was going to break his legs but when he landed in the deep powder, he just had to do it again and again. I didn't do the jump but almost followed him on accident 2nd time. I didn't see the ground so I threw myself back into the mountain and went sideways to where it wasn't as steep.
So here's Martin doing his 360 at Park City. If he had found this spot earlier in the day he wouldn't have left.
