Tyler's moody 18 month session

Sometimes re-creations don't work.
Reference THIS POST for what I was trying to sorta re-create.
Isaac's 18 month old pictures were when my camera was pretty new. I hit the "photoshoot" tag on my blog to find it and I had to sift through some pretty bad sessions! Good thing I barely charged or didn't back then! Not that these are better, they're all SOOC, so not cropped or clarified or anything.
Here's the story. When Isaac was 18 months old, he was moody. But that didn't stop my determination for a good photoshoot. I took him to a field AND to a park AND did outfit changes AND had heavy bulky props and another toddler.
Here is Isaac 3-1/2 years later. Still a bit moody. But he was hungry, cold, and at a park that had a playground in sight yet I was making him stomp around in a plain old field. I can't say that I blame him.

 And here's the 2013 version of a Feger 18 month old. Moody, but thankfully I know a few tricks to let him think that he's running the show. (Okay, he is.)

 And poor Dylan, Where did his shirt come from? It was brand new but I didn't buy a short sleeve button up shirt. It coordinated, so I thought, so I made him wear it. A spider man shirt would have been fine for these. I'm not framing them or anything.

 I love this little guy!

 But true to the original 18 month old trike session, the toddler was done... and outta here!

 I picked him up about 8 times to put him back by the tricycle. So on the 9th time running away, he was a little slower, and crying - which was good for the remake pics since that's what Isaac was doing!

 So we went to the playground.

 And the boys were not cold any more.

Sometimes you gotta let the babies do what they want to do, and that's the real 18 month old anyway.

I'd love to take my boys on photo shoots every month, but for a number of reasons, that can't happen.  Corrie's kids didn't come over, so I took the boys behind the grocery store by me.  At sunset, it has beautiful lighting.  I was going to take the kids to the park, but needed to go to the grocery store too, and thought why not try that spot instead!  The session didn't go that well because they aren't so into standing next to each other, and I was soooo hot out there!  I started feeling sick because of the humidity.  This is my favorite image from the morning.  Isaac is always picking weeds for me.  I put them behind my ears and in a tiny vase in my kitchen window. 

 Dylan sensed that I was irritated with them not wanting to sit on the dewey grass and not caring that there might be ants next to them, so he humored me with a smile.  He's so good at preventative care.  By that, I mean that once I told him to hang up his towel after the bath, he always does it!  Corrie must have trained him to put his trash in the trash and the dishes in the sink after meals, because he always does that too!  And when he sensed my begging them to give me real smiles, he did. 

 He sang to me too.  I wanted some pictures that could possibly go in the baby's nursery.  I want it to be a jungle theme with a Hawaiian twist.  I'm still looking for inspiration.  I'll paint the walls two tones of green and want to do a tiki man on one wall.  We bought a ceiling fan for the room yesterday. 

 After not too long, I let them just sit and eat watermelon. 

 Dylan wasn't going to eat any at first, so I took the first bite out of it.  Isaac, on the other hand, wanted the biggest piece and dug right in - as usual. 

 After the grocery store, they remembered that I had told them we were going to the park.  And since they were almost good sports, and I don't want them to hate photo sessions, I said we could go - but I needed something cold!  I got a frozen strawberry lemonade from McDonalds and got them ice cream cones.  I have been craving ice, ice water, frozen fruit w/ some juice poured over it, Slurpee's, anything w/ crushed ice, and popsicles.  McDonalds' lemonade isn't that great at all, but it hit the spot. 

 Yes  I had wipes to clean these cute dirt hands.  They played while I stayed in the shade, then after the swings, they were ready to go. 

So we'll see if I actually use any photos of their real Hawaii shirts in the nursery, but it's still good to have updated photos of my cuties.

6 month old baby Shaylyn!

I just finished a huge project (a gift so I can't tell you what it is), but had to at least look through these pictures from a photo shoot from today.  Don't you just LOVE this little baby?!  I do!  I didn't edit this b/c I should get to bed by 2am today.  I have to drop off boys, pick up girls, then be in Tampa at 7:30 am (which is earlier than I ever wake up). 

But I just HAD to post one pic real quick. 

I was playing w/ my new lense.  There sure is a learning curve!  I think I should have closed my appeture to be safe, but I love the blurred foreground and the bukeh in the back. 

I actually have been eyeing this location for over a year.  I finally knocked on their door and tried to ask permission.  They weren't home, so we shot in their side yard anyway.  Shaylyn's dad said "you guys have no limits, do you?"  I'm sure I have limits, but I've been waiting and waiting, and who would say no to this cute baby girl anyway?  I left a note to say thank you.

Before their combined birthday party, after loading the balloons, the POW, SPLAT, KERBLAM, WHAM! and BIFF" signs, the Publix cake, the cooler filled with juice boxes and hot dogs, and the ready-to-assemble-capes, I took a couple of quick photos of my super hero boys in thier birthday crowns before loading them up too. 

I love that they felt in character, they wore their superhero bracelets, and they love their crowns.

Noah is 2 and Malia is 4

Corrie and I were pregnant together twice and we watch each other's kids so the other can work part time.  It's perfect.  She asked me to talke some photos of her kids for their birthdays.  Of course!  We drove those kids to 4 locations, poor babies.  We got lollipops and smoothies after, so they're okay:)  See some more on the fishy face blog!

I don't know if I like it regular or zoomed in better.  I like them both!

Can you think of a better caption?  Please share.  This photoshoot is because I want to include photos with Dylan's preschool valentines this year.  I'll be putting my logo/watermark in the corner, similar to Olan Mills, remember them?  And I'll put my logo on my return address label so they should put 2 and 2 together:)  I'm all about the underground marketing, and I BETTER have my website together by then! 
There's a lot of noise in this picture, but it sums up my kids pretty well.  Dylan is aiming to please, and Isaac is pouting being cute.  He's got nothing to prove.  Tell me a caption for this one too.  I need Valentine's ideas.

My patient is a graphic artist and told me about this building. His friend is one of the 4 artists who were hired to each cover a wall. I will be going back to do retakes.  I really want good close ups of each Dylan and Isaac, and I didn't get any good photos against a really awesome wall in the back.  We got there as the sun was going down and I ran out of daylight. 

I planned on the photoshoot and packed their clothes, but b/c I took the boys to Corrie's house in their footy PJs, I forgot their shoes.  Isaac borrowed Noah's, but Dylan couldn't borrow Malia's.  I stopped by a consignment shop and got Dylan some Batman shoes for $3.99.  Isaac had a tantrum b/c I didn't get him anything.  I hand't thought about dinner, so we stopped by Taco Bell for some cheese roll ups.  We stayed as long as we could, but then it hit me that we were in a bad part of town, seriously, and the bus started dropping people off so we got the heck outta there.  I felt like I was there dangling bate or something and got a bad feeling.  I'm going to add it to my list of potential backdrops for daytime though.  Feedback please! 

Abercrombie Park sneak peak

I'm so excited to get back to doing things for myself! When I found out that I wouldn't have Noah today (sad for me and Isaac), I called a friend to let her know that I normally would NEVER have my kids with me, but we could try the photo shoot she asked me for, and our kids could also have a play date. (And this is still my personal blog, so here's a fun photo just for me:)We will do the real photo shoot with the whole family soon. (I promise it'll just be me and my camera that time!) These will be great for my portfolio for when I officially start my Fishy Face Photography business soon. Her twins are so cute, all I did to this was crop out Isaac who wanted up on the bench too.

There are lots more! We stayed at the park for a long time! I can't believe the boys were so good. When I looked at the time, it was way after lunch time and was encroaching on nap time. They were such sweet little guys and I can't wait for the family shoot. I bet the dad will be done before the kids with that one:)

I took over Jolyn's family's dinner time taking newborn photos for 5 day old Shaylyn. She's 2Dylan's little sister! She has such soft fun hair, and was the perfect little model. I wish I could have just stayed all day b/c we had even more ideas. She was perfect and so sweet! Jolyn is a dancer, so Shaylyn has a lot of her own little tutus too!





She looks like a little doll here.
