8/6/11 Our Saturday started out with me volunteering with a lot of other RDHs and studednts from PCDHA. We gave free dental screenings and fluoride treatments at the Junior League's back to school care fair. I'm not in this picture b/c I took it. There's no need to try to fit in this big crowd.
Steven took the kids to the St. Pete Pier for some activities. We met at the Moon Under Water for lunch before I went to a friend's baby shower. April is due 2 days after my baby is due. She's getting her girl.
Then we all went to the Taco Bus for dinner. I really like the food there and so do the kids!
We sat high up in the section that was reserved for members of our church. There were over 300 tickets sold to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints members. Even the missionaried got to go.
Walking in, Isaac tripped and scraped his knee. He of course took a picture of it. (Don't worry, I can barely see it either.)
Because it was so dificult to pay attention to the game from so far away, we took a long walk and waited in a long line to go pet the sting rays. Both boys really got to touch them!
They ran the bases at one of the main gates.
Then we went back to our seats for a while.
Sister Pittman took this and I stole it.
My feet were swollen and my legs were tired after the long day, but it was well worth it:)

the Heels
I've seen on other blogs mention having cute heels and dressing up more. It's on What Not To Wear, and on photographers' blogs, and was recently on a morning radio show etc. It's even on my cousin's blog I just noticed!I don't get the occasions too often to put on heels (besides teaching my 3 and 4yr olds at church, of course) so my little brother's wedding seemed like a fun occasion.
I didn't know if Hollie wanted me to try to coordinate, or not. I was fine either way. Matt told me that her brothers' wives would be wearing purple pencil skirts with white button up shirts. I asked if he wanted me to do the same or not and he basically said "I guess???"
I didn't dare trying to find a purple pencil skirt for fear of clashing, but I had a grey one, and had a white button up shirt. I had black heels, but thought about perhaps getting something purple to accessorize with.
But, with this blogger and this post as inspiration, I splurged the $17 on them and figured that even if I only wore them once, it'd be worth it:) What a steal for a whole outfit! (Oh yea, I did pay $3.50 each for ear rings, a necklace, and a set of bracelets that kept Dylan and Isaac occupied b/c we forgot toys for outside of the temple.)
Anyway, I thought I'd finally blog about the shoes b/c I had more comments about them, then about my brother's wedding:) And while I'm posting, I'll share that the weekend after Texas, I went to the FDHA convention in Orlando. AND I wore those heels again, b/c any RDH knows that the official color of dental hygiene is purple too!
And here's another picture of me and Maryellen. She was the speaker at our 7am CE class (I got up at 3am to drive with her so she had plenty of time to set up.) I helped her w/ the lecture, then she helped me with our fund raiser table. (She had cool red shoes too, but you can't really see them in the pictures.)

Back To School Care Fair 2009
8/8/09
The Junior League of St. Petersburg puts on a Back to School Care Fair each year so that children can get free vaccinations, eye exams, physicals, etc. One year, one of our PCDHA RDHs (Registered Dental Hygienists) asked if we could include dental screenings. What a good idea! I've volunteered every year since. This year we were able to give fluoride treatments to the kids.
It's a good way to be able to do service, hang out with other RDHs and students, see cute little kids, and we even get continuing education credit for it! (And free breakfast and lunch!) It's such a good group of people. Some volunteers had already left at this point.
We had a DDS there too, even though we didn't need one for the screanings, patient education, and fluoride treatments.
This was our student table. We probably should have had something about SPC there, but we did have a PCDHA representative at the education tables, and they are student PCDHA members. I don't get to see the students much, so it's good to have activities throughout the year so they can be involved. I really loved the service opportunities that were offered to me as an RDH student. Maybe that's why I'm still so active:)

Dental Hygiene Symposium
I spent 4 days at the Orlando Airport Hyatt hotel for the Florida Dental Hygiene Association's annual session. I was a delegate representing the West Coast district. We had a lot of meetings about amending our Bylaws etc. I also took some continuing education classes. The most expensive part of the weekend was having to go out and buy some maternity clothes! (no, they were cheap.) The hotel was paid for and we took coolers with breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
I went with some friends, but I still missed Dylan and Steven! The good part is that I can talk to Dylan on the phone now. He said "ni-night" to me each night. He and Steven had a good time. Steven took him to see another dome IMAX movie and to see alligators in a nearby park. They saw 3 up close! Steven taught Dylan how to try to hold up 3 fingers so he could tell me about it when I got back. Dylan can hold up 1, 2, or 5 fingers - 3 is too dificult. Dylan must have had fun b/c he didn't have to brush his teeth for 4 days or take a bath except for once! He also stayed up really late - it was a "boys only" weekend!
When I got back I just loved everything about Dylan. He is so cute and happy and energetic. He runs around and plops himself on the floor then rolls around and laughs. It was fun to play with him when I got home. I thought about getting out the video camera but I didn't want to miss any part of it, so I'll keep that to myself I guess.
Look how huge my tummy is. This is the 1st pic we took and the first time I've seen MYSELF on camera in a long time. (I take pictures of Dylan instead.) I decided to NOT be on the end of pictures as if that's why I look so wide.
Over photoshopped red eyes (I'm learning I guess). This was at the appreciation reception.
The Delegates from Pinellas County on the "House" floor
Lisa, who came all the way from California!, Floyd, me, Angie, and Holly
Holly and me with some Nicole, Lisa, and Bre (active students). This was the last day. I think we were all excited that the last "house" was over (where we vote on issus.) My bow is untied. Oh well.
