Festivus is from Sinfield. 

There's a Feats of Strength. We retired the eggnog chugging contest and replaced it with a girls' arm wrestling challenge. We weren't as competitive as the boys would have liked. Corrie won.

 We do a gift exchange with a $25 value per person. There's a funny back story to this Elf on the Shelf. I'd like to say it's another Festivus miracle! (I bought one. Steven had me return it. Steven re-bought it. I wrapped it. I stole it. It showed up the next day in our house!)

 Here's the Festivus pole. We've done away with the airing of grievances.

 It was a smaller gathering but Stacy's new house is amazing!

We ate dinner at the ward Christmas party.  Tabitha, the party planner, does such a good job. 

The decorations, food, and kid activities are just perfect.

 Our youth helped the kids in Santa's Workshop while the parents got to enjoy a program. 

 Then it was on to our Festivus party.  The kids stayed with their babysitter at home. 
Steven participated in the "feats of strength," a cherry pie eating contest v. Brian.

 Brian won.  Steven will have to do something dumb again next year. 

 We sang happy birthday to Darren,

 then we gathered around the old aluminum pole for a game of dirty old santa. 
I'm so glad we don't do the grievances any more. 

 This Best Buy gift card went from this lovely couple,

 to Noah and his broken leg,

 to us.  I win!

We had our dirty Santa gift exchange. I don't think feelings were hurt this year. Success!
and our feats of strength (the egg nog challenge). Steven was once again defeated so will have to challenge somebody else next year.

A Festivus for the rest of us!

Steven and his group of friends like Sinfield and quote it regularly. Each year we have a Festivus party to celebrate the made up holiday that George's family celebrates on Sinfield. We have made a couple of traditions. There's an airing of grievences, a feats of strength, and an aluminum pole.

Basically the feats of strength is an egg nog challenge. The looser has to repeat it the next year against someone else. Steven has been in the challange every year and will be again next year. The boys and an occasional girl writes grievences down on post-it notes and sticks them to the pole. Later someone will peal and read aloud each put down. It's not nice stuff that's said, but occasionally something is funny.

We also do an anonymous gift exchange where gifts can be traded a max of 3 times. Some gifts are great, some feelings get hurt when gifts get stolen or made fun of, and some gifts get re-gifted. We do this as if it's a Christmas party since we only have one party. Last year we also celebrated Darren's birthday and Steven's law school graduation. Luiz flew in town for Festivus. I don't think he'll ever do that again. He opened a good gift, but it got stolen and he got stuck w/ Boggle. He was NOT amused.

EVERCorrie is 36 weeks, I'm 32 weeks, and Malarie is barely showing. NOW you can't say that you don't see that my face is "filling out."
